Happyness are a trio from London, England that formed in 2013. Members include Jon EE Allan (Vocals, guitar, bass), Benji Compston (vocals, guitar) and Ash Cooper (Drums). Write In is their second studio album release.

The music throughout Write In is mostly excellent, and in parts, it slightly reminds me of The Jesus & Marychain (1994's Stoned & Dethroned) and Granddaddy. What sets Happyness apart, though, are the captivating lead vocals of Allan and Compston. One of the album's most striking qualities is the way the vocals tend to wrap around you like a warm blanket as you chill on the edge of a cliff watching the sunset overlooking the sea. That was the feeling I got anyway as I listened to Write In for the first time from start to finish. It's hard to believe that these guys are from South London because the record totally vibes California.

In the end, there was just one song I couldn't get into, "Uptrend." The rest of the album is quite gratifying and only gets better with each listen. Write In is a near-perfect delicacy of airy, fuzz pop melodies lapped in honey dipped psychedelic pop. Standout tracks include "Falling Down," "The Reel Starts Again (Man As Ostrich)," "Anytime," and "Tunnel Vision On Your Part." Write In is one of 2017's best releases and should be on the must-hear list for anyone who appreciates good music.
