"If Bob Dylan and Janis Joplin's voices created an offspring it would be the raspy, poignant and infectious tone of Trevor Sensor. "Pacing The Cage" is an effortlessly compelling song, which displays the great balance that will be displayed on Texas Girls and Jesus Christ." - Sound & Silence
Trevor Sensor has unveiled the video for his new single, “Pacing The Cage,” from his debut EP, Texas Girls and Jesus Christ, out March 25th on Jagjaguwar. When asked about the track, which is a cover of a Bruce Coburn song, Sensor commented, “I think, basically, it’s one of the greatest songs ever written. I immediately identified with it as soon as I heard the line, ‘Sometimes you feel like you live too long, days drip slowly on the page.’” The video features Sensor giving a tour de force solo piano performance and can be viewed above.
Following a hugely successful run of shows at SXSW, Sensor has announced his first ever run of UK dates for the end of May, including appearances at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton and Dot To Dot in Manchester, Bristol, and Nottingham, as well as a headline London show at the Servants Jazz Quarters (all dates below). On his debut EP, Texas Girls and Jesus Christ, the Illinois-born 22-year-old singer/songwriter’s distinctive burr of a voice sounds aged decades beyond his years, and the rest of Sensor’s music follows suit, with timeless-sounding melodies and a sense of songwriting that exudes maturity while still feeling fresh.
The video for Sensor’s debut single, “Texas Girls and Jesus Christ” can be viewed here. Director, Ryan Ohm said of the video’s concept, “The film idea grew from the edge of town, dimly lit, local bar that Trevor and I had both spent time at – but separately and in different time zones. We wanted to try and recreate our version of these distinctly odd atmospheres and the unique folks who inhabit them – the guys and gals who aren’t necessarily high on life, but can be when the night grows long.”
