Minus the Bear is a four-piece indie rock band hailing from Seattle, Washington where they formed in 2001. Jack Snider (vocals/guitar), Dave Knudson (guitar), Cory Murchy (bass) and Alex Rose (keyboard/vocals) pushed out the band’s sixth studio album Voids after a five-year pause since their last release.

The album begins almost ironically with a track about endings – “Last Kiss” introduces an anxious guitar and a nervous energy to kick off a journey through 10 tracks of psychedelic melancholy. The guitars are raw and groovy, but Snider confesses love lost, a tumultuous journey for self-discovery and “all the lies.” This dark tone stays consistent throughout most of the album to the point of repetition and, eventually, indifference. Still, a few tracks stood out of the blend. Check out “Last Kiss,” “Tame Beasts,” and “Invisible.”
