Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is a group fronted by Alec Ounsworth from Brooklyn, New York that formed in 2004. In 2013 the last remaining member besides Ounsworth quit the band. The Tourist, which is more of a solo effort from Ounsworth is their fifth studio album release.

There are a few good moments in The Tourist, but you have to get past a lackluster first half to appreciate them. Musically, the songs are mostly dull and uneventful, squandering away any feeling of emotion from Ounsworth's unique vocal style. He feels restrained throughout the record. It's a bit like listening to David Byrne but with boring instrumentation. The album does occasionally show a pulse, like mid-way through with the song "Better Off," but it never manages to maintain anything consistently. In the end, there's nothing profound or interesting about The Tourist. Ounsworth is solid, but the music is mostly forgettable.
