Banks, also known as Jillian Rose Banks, is a singer-songwriter from Orange County, California. The Altar is her second studio album release, debuting at number 17 on the US Billboard 200.

The Altar's best moments come and go, and you almost want to forgive the mediocre parts until things start to unravel near the end completely. The production at least is consistently solid throughout and nearly keeps The Altar afloat. The smooth mid-tempo electronic beats are some of the album's biggest highlights, but the new record lacks the emotional punch of 2014's Goddess.  Some of the songs come across feeling dull and uninspired, making the whole listening experience feel uneven,  like a quickly sketched out version of something much more ambitious. Sadly, The Altar just didn't live up to my expectations. Standout tracks include "Gemini Feed," "Fuck With Myself," and "Lovesick."
