Micky Blue releases new single “Firebird”, from her upcoming EP Wild Things.
"Years ago a close friend gave me an out of print copy of my favorite children’s book The Firebird and other Russian Tales. Long story short I wrote Firebird for her. She is gay and struggled (like so many) with coming out and self-acceptance. The story of the Firebird is a long and difficult journey trying to capture something elusive and beautiful. I think everyone has put something or someone up on a pedestal, and you let your journey get in the way of claiming your firebird which to me is self-acceptance and self-love."
