As we've seen a continuing trend with festivals forced to shut down after however many years, or forced to cut budget, or forced to relocate due to the rising costs of not only talent but venue, production, and space, although it comes with utter sadness, it is no surprise that another festival, Magnolia Festival, was forced to make some changes. Today, Magnolia Festival revealed that they will be relocating their 20th Anniversary festival celebration from the acclaimed Suwannee Music Park to St. Augustine Amphitheater. Nothing against St. Augustine, but it fails in comparison to the magical place that is Suwannee. Nevertheless, this should not deter you from attending Magnolia Festival. One of our long lasting favorite "hidden" gems, there's little doubt that Magnolia will do their utter best to provide the unique and magnificent experience they've been able to cultivate over the last twenty years. Check out the note from Magnolia below and be sure to get your tickets to the 20th Anniversary celebration. We'll see you at St. Augustine 10/14-15.
Magfest Family and Friends,
After much thought and consideration, it is with heavy hearts that we announce that we will not be producing Magnolia Fest at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in 2016. Instead, we will host a Magnolia Fest 20th Anniversary Celebration in St. Augustine at the St. Augustine Amphitheater. It will be a one-day event on Saturday, October 15 with a pre-party on Friday, October 14. St Augustine is a beautiful city with wonderful beaches, there are a lot of hotels and also camping right next to the venue, with easy access to the Jacksonville Airport. Details will be released in the next couple of weeks.
Rising costs for talent, production and the inability to negotiate a deal with the Spirit of Suwannee make it impossible to do this event in Live Oak without a substantial increase in ticket prices or a reduction in the quality of the show.
Magnolia Fest has been a magical experience for years and a place for family and friends to come together every fall to enjoy some of the best music in the country. Always cherish those memories.
