The Show Ponies is a band based out of Los Angeles, California. How It All Goes Down is their third studio release. Members include Clayton Chaney (lead vocals, bass), Andi Carder (lead vocals, banjo), Jason Harris (vocals, guitar), Philip Glenn (fiddle), and Kevin Brown (drums).

How It All Goes Down is breezy Americana that's wonderfully immersive, filled with moments of lyrical beauty, infectious melodies and thrilling harmonies that are enjoyably light and bouncy, but it's the energy of its musicians bolstered by the strong vocal chemistry between Chaney and Carder that help carry the songs to soaring heights. In the end, there were only a couple of songs I couldn't get into, but I found the rest of the record to be incredibly satisfying, especially the first half. Some of the best tracks include "The Time It Takes," "This World Is Not My Home," the captivating "Kalamazoo," "Someone To Stay," and "Something Good." If you even slightly find this genre of music appealing then How It All Goes Down is essential listening that should be absorbed from start to finish. Highly recommended.
