Foxygen is duo Jonathan Rado (grand piano, electric guitar, bass, organ, keyboards & synthesizers, percussion) and Sam France (vocals) from Westlake Village, California. Hang is their fourth studio album release and features a plethora of guest musicians such as Brian and Michael D'Addario of The Lemon Twigs, Steven Drozd of The Flaming Lips, and an orchestra packed with horns and string instruments.

Hang reminds me of the early psych-rock era of The Rolling Stones, part rock n roll, and part hippie revival. There is fearlessness here, but unfortunately, some of the songs come across disappointingly half-baked. With only eight tracks the record just simply fails to exploit all of its assets: Additional musicians and production, and a full-blown orchestra with various flutes, saxophones, French Horns, trumpets, trombones, violins, and cellos. Hang may not be the classic album it sets out to be, but at least its influences and aspirations are always worn plainly upon its polyester sleeve. Standout singles include "Follow the Leader" and "On Lankershim."
