Frontman of Detroit electronic outfit Christopher Jarvis recently relocated to the State of Arizona, a new frontier that would help him foster inspiration for his creative ventures. Removed from previous projects and earlier ambient releases, 2015 saw Ancient Language in full bloom with the luxuriant and mystifying Folk Songs, and continue to blossom on last year's radiant Everybody Forgives Everyone for Everything. Following a pair of records like these will prove to be no easy feat, but it seems that the band has bold plans.
"Until Recently" is the newest Ancient Language single and his first since the Arizona move. With a crisp overarching ambiance bleached in the desert sun, the rhythmic guitar and pop hooks burst in like a lush oasis on the horizon. Frequent Ancient Language collaborator Matthew Beyer lends vocals on this song, his croons, and harmonies soaring over the sultry soundscape. This may not be the first time we've heard vocals on an Ancient Language track, but there is no doubting that this is one of the band's most refined and inviting works to date.
