Many years ago, friends used to tell me about this kid named Danny Brown from Detroit. He was someone who they had smoked and partied with, running wild in the streets of Detroit back when the police presence was nearly nonexistent. Aside from the antics and stories, their persistent message was that this guy could flow. Not only could he flow, but he had a unique style and approach. The first song that was played to me, which escapes my memory, was the last one I listened to for a while. His voice was a little too whiny, the lyrical content childish and the production was weak - This was years ago - now his voice is far more polished, his lyrical wordplay is improving with every song and the improved level of production goes without saying. Although still early for Danny Brown, he's on the rise to becoming a lasting force in the music industry. He's been recently signed to DJ A-Traks label Fool's Gold, which is the same management team as Eminem, Action Bronson, Yelawolf and more.
Danny Brown is once again bringing the spotlight to Detroit on Thanksgiving this year by doing his annual fundraiser show on the 25th. Furthermore, in addition, he's going into the classrooms with kids and young adults, partnering with InsideOut Detroit to teach a poetry workshop and connecting it to hip-hop. He's also fundraising for Detroit public schools.
Help Danny Brown continue his mission by coming out and supporting the Detroit native with his annual fundraiser show alongside The Bruiser Brigade and more on November 25th. The show from last year was absolutely bonkers. Check out the Sound & Silence Live recap below.
