Sumilan (SUE-muh-lahn) is a band that originated from Athens, Georgia. Members include Harris Culley (guitar & vocals), JT Toro (guitar), Mark Dykes (bass & vocals), Alex Stokes (keyboard & vocals) and Sam Whitfield (drums). En Transit is their second studio release and it fulfills the promise that their debut album teased. Compared to 2012’s Natural Selection, it’s a huge leap forward in sound and production. The band still manages to retain some of the same grooves, but with a heavier dose of electronica and a broader sonic palette.

En Transit is an electronic-psych rock album with prog guitar riffs, shape-shifting rhythms and catchy melodies. The music is fun, dynamic, and often engaging, but it also tends to be a little too jammy. Depending on your mindset this can either be a joyous experience or something that just seems to drag on for a little too long. Stand out tracks include "Break it off", "Ain't Missing You", "All we know", "Falling Below" and my personal favorite, "Broken Toes." Fans of Big Something and Papadosio should really dig these guys.
