Hopscotch Music Festival, called “America’s (Secretly) Best Festival” and “the premiere experimental and underground festival in America,” returns Sept. 10-12, 2015, to downtown Raleigh, N.C. The festival, recognized for its diverse programming and city-wide footprint, features nearly 140 acts in a variety of genres. For the sixth year in a row, Hopscotch reaffirms its commitment to showcasing North Carolina bands alongside notable artists from around the world. Approximately 40% of the festival’s performers hail from in-state, while others will travel from Australia, England, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Germany, and across the United States to play.
Hopscotch 2015 will be highlighted by three outdoor nights in Raleigh City Plaza, the city’s most inviting downtown space. On Thursday, Sept. 10, groundbreaking post-rock collective Godspeed You! Black Emperor will headline, with Atlanta’s Deerhunter opening. Friday, Sept. 11 will be headlined by the Grammy nominated TV on the Radio, with California’s Tycho in direct support. Durham’s Carlitta Durand will open. On Saturday, Sept. 12, country pioneer Dwight Yoakam will headline along with legendary Los Angeles band X who will open. Two local favorites, American Aquarium and The Vibekillers, round out the 4-band bill. Some 130 other bands will perform in various clubs during Hopscotch’s three days. A sampler of these acts includes: Pusha T, Godflesh, Battles, Cashmere Cat, Owen Pallett, Roky Erickson, Chelsea Wolfe, GoldLink, Lydia Loveless, Old Man Gloom, Lawrence English, Jenny Hval, Clark, Zs, Sheer Mag, and Le1f.
